Senior Vice President of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) MP Nimal Siripala de Silva said whatever his party decides, his support will be for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna(SLPP)’s presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He made this remark the day before yesterday in a discussion held with Badulla district SLPP political activists.

The discussion was held between political activists including SLPP local government representatives and Nimal Siripala de Silva in Badulla and the former minister has expressed his opinion at the meeting. A political representative who participated in this discussion said that Nimal Siripala de Silva had stated that a few members of the SLFP opposed to the MoU forwarded for the reconciliation of SLFP and SLPP. He said five SLFP members had already met with UNP presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa discreetly and were ready to support him. He said that as a member of the SLFP, he would not do so .
