SSP Ruwan Gunasekera said the CID has obtained Interpol red notices on 14 criminals wanted by Sri Lankan courts in connection with murder and drug trafficking. They are known to be hiding overseas.
He said special raids were conducted in the Western Province in July and August and the investigations had revealed the assets and funds accumulated by criminals from various crimes including drug trafficking.
“The CID has detected 900 perches of land valued at more than Rs.4,000 million and seized 12 luxury vehicles, seven three-wheelers and seven motorcycles,” the SSP said adding that they would be confiscated. He said in addition 102 bank accounts of suspects linked to organised crimes in the Western Province had also being uncovered.
The SSP said more than Rs.2,600 million worth of transactions had been carried out through these bank accounts and police had seized Rs. 96 million from those
