Total active cases stand at 1,172

The total number of cases from the Minuwangoda cluster stood at 1,034 with 199 employees of the apparel factory, another from Brandix company at Welisara and three close associates, testing positive for COVID - 19 yesterday.
These 1,034 cases were reported within just four days.
The Information Department said they were all employees attached to the apparel factory and were under quarantine process. Some 202 cases were reported yesterday while some 729 positive cases were reported on Tuesday alone, accounting for the highest number of single-day detections.
Meanwhile, a cleaning service worker attached to the BIA also tested positive for COVID - 19 yesterday. Accordingly, the total number of confirmed positive cases in Sri Lanka surged to 4,459 with 1,172 active cases. A total of 3,274 patients have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals. Meanwhile, according to Health Promotion Bureau statistics, a total of 303,381 PCR tests have so far been carried out with 4,480 tests being done on Tuesday (6) which was the highest number of PCR testing on a single day.
