The Chairman of the Battaramulla Cooperative Insurance Company Darshana Samarawickrama received injuries in a shooting incident when he was on his way to assume duties last morning and admitted to Homagama Base Hospital.
The gunmen riding a motorcycle had shot him at Gemunu Mawatha in Walpita. Police said the gunmen had fired four shots, causing injuries to an upper limb.
A spokesman for the hospital said the injured was out of danger.
The Crime Investigation Branch of Meegoda Police and the SOCO unit of the Nugegoda division are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspects.
