Universities closed for two weeks

All universities will be closed for two weeks from today to curb the spread of the coronavirus, University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunge said yesterday.   

He said the decision was taken at a special meeting held at the University Grants Commission yesterday considering the safety of students in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.   
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has decided to grant two weeks leave to all National Colleges of Education and Teachers College from March 16 to March 29. The academic activities of these institutions will begin on March 30.
