• Many have stressed that UNP should be revamped in several levels

UNP Deputy General Secretary Ruwan Wijewardene said over the weekend that he will submit a report to the party’s working committee on reorganising the grand old party.   

I have already expressed my ideas on reorganising the UNP

 Mr. Wijewardene told journalists on Saturday that he had already expressed some ideas on reorganising the UNP and would submit a report on it to the working committee shortly.   
“I have already expressed my ideas on reorganising the UNP. It is not possible to explain my ideas in a few words. I shall submit a report in this regard to the working committee shortly,” Mr. Wijewardene said.   

“Many have stressed that UNP should be revamped in several levels,” he added.   

Asked whether he is willing to take over the party leadership, the former state minister said he is willing to do it if the party members of all levels want him to do so.   

“I have to talk to the candidates who contested the general elections from our party, the former MPs and Pradeshiya Sabha members and get their ideas. If they want me to take over the leadership I am prepared to do so and rebuild the party” he also said.
