Bringing together smart transportation and smart banking at Sri Lanka’s first multimodal transport centre, Transport Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Nations Trust Bank (NTB) Chief Executive Officer and Director Priyantha Talwatte inaugurated the NTB Smart ATM, at the Makumbura Multimodal Centre – Kottawa (MMC), on October 23, 2021.
The minister unveiled the Smart ATM with a future-ready fully digital, remote withdrawal via third party cash tokens, marking a first for Sri Lanka. The event took place with the participation of Transport Ministry Secretary Monty Ranatunge, MMC Chairman and the senior management of NTB.
“As the industry leader in payments, NTB has always been at the forefront of introducing the latest banking technologies. We hope that this Smart ATM will allow more people to witness how the bank’s simple and convenient banking solutions have been crafted with the purpose of enhancing the lives of customers. Being located at Sri Lanka’s first-ever Multimodal Centre marks a new milestone for NTB as we continue to be an active part of the country’s digital transformation journey,” said Talwatte.
The Smart ATM offers an array of banking facilities that adapt and cater to the various unique needs of customers, including making convenient payments for utilities such as phone bills, water, electricity and even card payments.
