Indu Attygala appointed as Softlogic Life Deputy CEO

Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing life insurer Softlogic Life PLC announced the appointment of Indu Attygala as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer, effective from January 1, 2022. 

Backed by over 27 years of industry experience in sales, operations and sales management in Sri Lanka and overseas, Indu joined Softlogic Life as its General Manager of Business Development in 2017. Over the past three years, he was engaged in the role of the company’s Chief Operating Officer, providing strategic leadership to enhance and maintain its industry-leading customer operations and experiences at international standards and helping to secure numerous local and international accolades for the insurance giant.

Beginning his career as an Underwrite for Fire Insurance at CTC Eagle Insurance in 1993, Indu joined P.T Vitasia – Indonesia - General Insurance Brokers 2000, gaining invaluable international exposure. After returning from Indonesia, he rejoined AVIVA NDB Insurance in 2002, where he changed the trajectory of his career by accepting the challenge of developing the company’s General Insurance Agency Channel as Manager – Direct Sales. Here, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager/Head of Sales in General Insurance in the Agency Development Unit, until moving to Life Distribution in 2012 at AIA Insurance Lanka PLC as Deputy General Manager. 

Indu holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Northampton, UK. His portfolio is further strengthened with a Comprehensive Technical Programme in General Insurance at the National Insurance Academy in Pune, India and an Advanced Agency Management Programme conducted by AIA Hong Kong under his belt. Indu is also a recipient of a Master-Class by LIMRA Europe Limited.
