How about working and earning that?

Don’t expect any sympathy from Sri Lankan Tamils because your upcountry Tamil political leaders have no conviction but always joined whatever the political party that was in power. They never paid any interest on our behalf so we also don’t much care either. Only thing I would say is you are in this pathetic situation because of these political leaders. Go and demonstrate outside their luxury houses, like Thondaman’s house.

Join the economic Armageddon's. To win elections, you will be promised a penthouse apartment. After winning - let's meet again in fort for the 'give us what you promised protest '!

They ask normal house. Nor modern house. Please correct title.

Now too late, when government has no funds at all to spend. They should not have awaited for 150 years.

It's so sad, the plantation sector brings in much of the needed foreign exchange, but the people are still in the British build "layan" houses without many facilities, poorly paid when the so-called patriotic politicians take monthly subscriptions and enjoy as well as the plantation companies earn so much of profit and enjoy luxury life. Yet, another classic example of our wonderful corrupt politicians.

Good move to give modern housing to to people but only on a 66 or 99 year leasehold. Sri Lankans don't value anything free.

This is an absolutely fair and just request. The estate workers' living conditions, though improved now, are still quite horrendous.

Beware title deeds will give them the option of a sale to mint money and they will go back to a low cost home.

Government is not anyone's sugar daddy.

These people are the same as the no good religious groups. Expecting something for doing nothing. Want cheaper electricity, want cheaper fuel, want free solar panel, and now this lot want free houses. Country cannot even feed all the children, with at least 5% in malnutrition, and hunger and food must be addressed before this pie in the sky request.

Anyone can ask for free land, free deed for other persons, or government land. There are many rupee creditor even in this country who needs to be paid. This lot does not deserve for the luxury request of deeds and free houses. When our society lets them make all this noise without condemning them, we are in effect taking away funds for effort to provide medicine for government hospital, and food for children in schools. There is our cost to our country when there is refusal to rebut these meretricious requests, and that's why we've been going down since independence.
