The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has decided to waive off tour guides’ annual renewal license fee for 2021 as a relief measure to one of the worst hit sectors by COVID-19.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka Tourism Chairperson Kimarli Fernando stated that the annual fee for guide licenses of all four categories which include National, Chauffeur, Area and Site Guides would be waived for the year 2021.
However, this relief would be only valid for guides who have renewed their license up to 2019.
“Guides who have not renewed their license for over a year can avail of the relief measure by paying the previous years’ fees,” SLTDA said.
The decision to extend this relief measure any further will be reviewed in 2021, SLTDA said.
