Internationally famed Sri Lankan singer Yohani de Silva arrived in Sri Lanka to a rousing welcome. He came from Mubmbai after a tour of India where she participated in shows. Delivering her remarks to the media upon arrival, she said she completed a successful visit in India covering cities such as Mumbai and Hyderabad and was overwhelmed by the response for her Sinhala songs there.
“I was there for two weeks. I did a lot of work in Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. There are some more programmes lined up to be done in the future. I am very happy. Our band also played well. I am planning to participate in a lot of musical concerts in the future. We also sang Sinhala songs. There were good responses. It was an alien language to them. I never thought I would get such an overwhelming response. Many people know about Sri Lanka there. Some of them have even come here. But, they were not familiar with the Sinhala language as such,” she said.
