Kinniya UC chairman held responsible for Kinniya tragedy

State Minister of Rural Road and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lanza, making his remarks in Parliament, held the chairman of the Kinniya Urban council responsible for the accident involving the ferry. He said the chairman had given permission for the operation of such an unsafe ferry service despite disapproval of it by the Road Development Authority (RDA).
