Wariyapola girl arrested

Twenty one-year-old Thilini Amalka, who is alleged to have slapped a youth at the Wariyapola Bus Terminal recently had been arrested by the Wariyapola Police this morning, Police Media Unit said.

Police said she was accompanied by her lawyer.

They said the youth had lodged a complaint with the Wariyapola Police a few days ago and that he was still at the Wariyapola Hospital undergoing medical treatment.

She had been produced before the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) and to be produced before the Wariyapola Magistrate Court tomorrow.

She is currently detained at the Wariyapola police until she is produced before the magistrate court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Chandra Kumara alias Selva who was slapped by the girl at the Wariyapola bus stand was admitted to the Wariyapola hospital on Monday after complaining of a hearing problem in one of his ears and was later transferred to Kurunegala Hospital for further examination.

He has now been transferred to the Wariyapola Hospital after examinations.

No. Even if it was a good looking man we wouldn't have smiled back and act all flirty. I've been cat called to so many times. This woman stood up for herself and God knows how many times she has been harassed. There's a limit to how much each person can tolerate and this outburst was proof that she had reached hers. PLEASE try walking in our shoes before you say that she deserved to get arrested. The irony of this situation is laughable! This county actually tolerates harassment and jails self defense.
THOUSANDS of women get harassed on a daily basis and it's ignored but when one of them retaliates to this madness the majority of the sexist male community loses their mind.
