US aware of Lankan HR situation

11 December 2010 09:28 am - 37     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

The US said that it was aware about the human rights situation in Sri Lanka and that that they continued to engage directly with the Sri Lankan Government on those issues of looking at the past

Speaking at  a press conference,  Assistant Secretary for Democracy Human Rights and Labor Michael Posner added  that, "We continue to engage directly with the Sri Lankan Government on those issues of looking at the past. The UN, has an expert that''s now doing its work. We''re going to watch that closely," he said.

There is a very real internal discussion here about what our alternatives are. But we''re aware of both of some of the humanitarian issues that continue to be of concern, as well as the issues of how to deal with the past," Posner said. (Source : PTI)

    i assume you also believe that devolution of power in the US (thereby breaking up the country into 50 separate countries) would solve all the problems in the US right?

    You all need not get too close to Srilanka and police them, We do not posses Weapons of Mass destruction or Nuclear arms.
    We only know about your nakedness in your foreign policy, The double standards you all adopt with greed to suck the resources of the developing nations. Wikieleakes have further tarnished your image and shown to all of us in other nations of the planet earth what hypocrites you all are. A 200 + year old Nation who calls themselves the Super power in this earth will be overpowered by China & India in the near future. Now that you all are getting Bankrupt and your economies are getting weak er , please don't try to do police work in small countries like ours to disturb the peace we have achieve after three decades.
