The Colombo High Court today served the indictments on the three sub agents who sent Rizana Nafeek, the house maid who is on death row for killing an infant child of her employer in Saudi Arabia, on January 5, 2012.

The contents in the charge sheet were read over and explained to the accused by the Court Interpreter S.A.M. Nafli in Tamil, the language conversant to the accused.

Thereafter High Court Judge Sunil Rajapaksa  fixed the trial for January 5, 2012  on the accused Shahul Hameed Mohamadu Abdul Latiff, Pakeer Mohideen Wajurdeen and Kamsa Lebbe Abdul Salam who were accused of  forging documents intentionally and  willfully to a minor and had sent her for foreign employment as a house maid knowing that the woman was a minor at the time of preparing documents. That's right

    Hakeem Friday, 16 December 2011 05:07 PM

But what is happening to Rizana Nafeek now?

    A.G.R.Silva Saturday, 17 December 2011 12:28 AM

heavy sentences must be imposed as a lesson to others

MOHAMED ASFAR Saturday, 17 December 2011 04:39 AM

please produce to courts the justice of peace who certified the passport forms, the commissioner who issued the passport after inspecting the girl personally, the training center officials of the sri lanka bureau of foreign employment who trained her for 15 days unnoticed she is under aged, the immigration officer at the airport who let her travel.

    Jim Saturday, 17 December 2011 05:05 AM

Should give them the maxium Punishment

Adam Son Saturday, 17 December 2011 06:29 AM

Don't leave them escape also Our Sri Lankan Lawyers should not appear for these culprits. The other agents should learn a lesson from this.

    truealf Saturday, 17 December 2011 06:33 AM

Yes need big punishment... .. we always we need to think and help the needy poor people of our country.... If we help the poor people ? they wouldn't have gone out of our country like this..... Think/ look the surrounding for needy/empty stomach people and help…

    abdulmajeed Saturday, 17 December 2011 06:33 AM

What about the girl willingly going? What about the parents who sent her willingly? What about the poverty she faced in the country? What about discrimination she faced? What about the airport immigration? What if she has continued to send dollars and not committed a crime? What about the political system, where there is no solution for hunger and poverty, and minors have to go for maintaining dependents??????

    Guzban Saturday, 17 December 2011 11:41 AM

This is only the tip of the iceberg. It will be impossible to prove that these people knew the girl was underage and unwilling to go abroad. It is just a cheap political trick.

Shame on the government on not raising a finger when the girl was first sentenced. It was an international organization that had to foot the bill and save Rizana from the first judgement and if not for their intervention, the execution would have taken place long ago. The goverment rep who was sent to save her, made it a pleasure trip for himself and failed even to meet the only people who could pardon the girl.

Yes as Abdulmajeed say what punishment we can give for parents. What about the GS who certified the age. When i was working a village in eastern province there ladies who comes to do family planning operation with false certificate from GS.
False certificate says a big age gap for example if the lady is 22 they say 40 and false number of children the lady is having. This happened places like Verugal ,Ichilampathai area.
This happene between 1995-1997.must be still there in other places also

Why blame everyone? The total blame should be attributed to her parents, who knowingly sent her abroad. If a false copy of her birth certificate was produced, none of the officials are to blame. No one checks the authenticity of a birth certificate. As long as it looks and appears to be authentic. The Parents are the culprits. The authorities are looking for a "scape goat". The GOSL should stop sending any of our women to the middle east for slave labor. Period

This is normal thing as far as agent is concern.Because this is happenning every day in every agent in SL. All because of poverty. No jobs hence they will go abroad for the same.Make povery less and Job oriented country no body will go abroad for work. Even to western countries.
