Tense situation in Kotakethana

L.H. Chandrasiri, the brother of the main suspect in some of the killings at Kotakethana, was booed and jeered by an angry crowd of more than 500, when he visited the residence of his brother the Pradeshiya Sabha Member L.H. Dharmasiri.

The villagers surrounded the house on seeing the suspect’s elder brother and his wife entering the house, which had been kept closed after the arrest and remand of the PS member.

The army, STF and the police were deployed to restore normalcy.

The police ordered those inside the house to come out and they were taken away to the town in a three-wheeler under police escort.(Lasantha N. Perera)

Murders,rapes,robberies, and the short tempers erupting all over the country is a sign of the deepening frustrations amoung the masses. The high cost of living, unemployment amoung the youth and the evidence of gross abuse of power is slowly but surely entering the body of the masses.
Some isolated incident somewhere in the country could erupt into a full blown revolution any moment. the signs are ominious!

This is inevitable - the public has to show their strength to control these politically backed freaks, since neither the politicians nor the police are strong enough to take any action against these rogues due to their links to the powerful politicians of the country.
