The CID has identified a 15-year-old boy as the one who had sent the controversial message warning Muslims not to attend the Nuwara Eliya Spring Festival saying it would be unsafe for Muslims.

Investigations had revealed that the student studying at a Colombo International school had initially sent the message to one of his relatives not knowing the gravity of what he was doing.

Police said the message was baseless and Muslims, Sinhalese and Tamils were enjoying the festivities in Nuwara Eliya peacefully.

A rumour had been spread that clerics at a Nuwara Eliya mosque had sent a message asking Muslims not to attend Nuwara Eliya Spring Festival.

Just a spark is enough at the moment. I hope people of all communities desist from these activities and enjoy the peace that we have achieved after a three decade war. With the spiralling cost of living everyone is finding it very difficult. and a war will drive us to the wall and we shall never get up again!!!
