A suspect who had been remanded in connection with several criminal activities fled from the police custody when he was being transported to the Anuradhapura Magistrates court yesterday, Anuradhapura Police said.

The initial investigation into the incident found the sergeant who had been on duty at that time, was guilty of misconduct, a senior official of the Anuradhapura Police said.
