Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa threatened to suspend Parliament for the entire day and go home unless he is allowed to house sittings professionally.

A tense situation erupted in Parliament earlier in the day resulting in the suspension of the sitting for 15 minutes.

Government and opposition MPs caused uproar when Government MP Susil Premajayantha once again brought up the issue of a statement given by UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya to a weekend newspaper. (KB/YP)

Hon. Speaker , Sir - Most of our MPs , unfortunately , good at shouting at the top of their voices and , apparently , as mighty Ms B has once pointed out,no one thinks of the contents of their speeches but the thrill it implies . And most of them will never try to make a good speech as long as the people in the ordinance is ready to clap to what ever they say.

Ibnu Batuta Wednesday, 08 December 2010 09:04 AM

This is only a ploy to divert the attention of the public from real issues.
