keep quiet? when such a circus act is taking place in front of the UN? my dear fellow, you need to learn the first thing about the present govt.'s "andare", Wimal Weerawansa!!

    samson Wednesday, 07 July 2010 08:26 AM

Your are absolutely right malkanthi ,,

    Akinahd Wednesday, 07 July 2010 08:32 AM

at last..RW said something useful !!! i never support or liked RW. but at this time everybody should look in to what he said. not who he is.

    nmn Wednesday, 07 July 2010 08:33 AM

rightly said sinala...even today most of the GULFpapers praising the srilankas stand on its soverignty.....

    DeAmO Wednesday, 07 July 2010 08:35 AM

This was not a peaceful protest, and it was not carried out by the peace-loving people of this country! Besieging the UN compound was NOT a 'peaceful' act!! Shame on you who supported this action!!!

Lal Medawatte Wednesday, 07 July 2010 08:49 AM

Sadly your comments are idiotic and make no relevance to the point RW has made. When some one point at the moon and asked you to look at the moon, don’t look at his fingers

    Dhamsen Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:09 AM

Do you allow others to trespass your premises?

    ruwan Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:10 AM

OK if u want the opposition leader to keep quiet ! are u going to handle this issue ? ur reply shows that ur not properly educated and not capable of doing such :-)

    Shay Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:23 AM

Your absolutly right! But to critize this protest which is wrong is also a democratic right..

    true Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:14 AM

This panel was invited by government itself not opposition or RW.

Gayan Samarasekara Wednesday, 07 July 2010 10:29 AM

Back or the front door, if Ranil becomes the president, the law and order will be re-established. The country will begin to follow the economic trends with Malaysia, Singapore, and the other developed or truly developing nations. Present Sri Lanka is in a stalemate with lot of corruption. There is no country working positively with us to come to a mutually lucrative trade agreement at least.

    BUGGER Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:12 AM

Yes Gayan lot of people do not appreciate Ranil.

Smart Aleck Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:09 PM

Take the chance Ranil, and score a few points. Even old Jayasuriya scores once in a way.

    deyyiya Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:57 AM

there is nothing unethical about it......if you are guilty you jump up and down otherwise you can face any panel

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:49 PM

it is also the great misfortune of this country to have "cardboard hero" ministers who are everyday ruining the little reputation this country had internationally....

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:51 PM

and i suppose Wimal Weerawansa has the said rights? being a little selective on our Constitutional rights now, aren't you?

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:52 PM

protest? this is a matter that should have been handled with more tact and diplomacy... not a third-class politician like gel-wimal going and hammering on the doors of the UN mission!

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:53 PM

hi, local boy, so what have YOU done to tarnish the reputation of this country?

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:54 PM

how would you define peaceful, exactly? Or are you aware of WW's definition of peaceful?

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:55 PM

and i suppose your theory is that he went and told wimal to arrange a protest like this?

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:57 PM

if the police asks to investigate your home, and you have nothing to hide, what is the sense of making a huge fuss? the innocent man has nothing to fear!

    kalip Wednesday, 07 July 2010 12:58 PM

too true... the only problem is, we still have people who fail to see beyond the "patriotism" of this government

    kavindra Wednesday, 07 July 2010 01:03 PM

more the reason for our people to vote the unp into power, but saddly nearly all of them are under the Rajapaksha spell

suren soysa Thursday, 08 July 2010 06:18 AM

Gayan, I pity your national & international knowledge. RW is a solid stumbling block for any countries good future. In power he has acted worst than MR in every sense of the word.

Nihal De Silva Saturday, 02 March 2013 02:58 AM

mR, wICKREMESINGHE IS A DISGRACED SHAMELESS PEOPLE REJECTED LEADER WHO IS DRAGING THE UNP INTO OBLIVION SO LEAVE THE LEADERSHIP MAN

local boy Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:13 AM

hi RW, so what have you done so far to remove this unethical expert panel ?

    Che Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:15 AM

MR WICKREMASINGHE,YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT,AND ABSOLUTELY USELESS,YOU ARE ALSO A JOKER JUST LIKE MR WEERAWANSA, YOU BOTH AND MANY OTHERS HAVE BETRAYED YOUR COUNTRY BY NOT BEING TRUE AND SINCERE TO THE PEOPLE, IT IS TIME YOU POLITICIANS STOP YOUR PLAY ACTING AND FOOLING THE PEOPLE.

    kassa Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:15 AM

    please at-least keep quiet Mr.Ranil.

    sam Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:18 AM

its everyone democratic right to protest..some might not like it but isnt this what UN,oppasition and others trying to achive

Aiyo Aiyo Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:20 AM

All right.. We can now expect another protest in front of RW's residence. Who is fooling whom ?

    Henaya Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:20 AM

how come opposition leader is keeping quiet. Is that the Govt's democracy.

    malkanthi Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:27 AM

The present Chaos situation politically and socially is because we dont have strong and powerful opposition! this is the advantage of the government!

    keerthi Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:30 AM

How can you expect ethics from such an uneducated man

    mohandevandev Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:34 AM

Sure its shameful to have leaders like him, who is ever willing to white masters.

    w Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:35 AM

Coming from a person who knows all about shame. Losing all elections and clinging on to opposition leaders post is something to be proud of.

Lal Hannadige Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:51 AM

Yes RW is vary correct on this matter, the way these people behaved brought damage to the image of country and her people and It is a shameful action. We who are working overseas know what exactly people talk about of our country and her people because of these shameful actions. Please do not damage the country and her people reputation. If this trend continue like this it will be more difficult for our young people to find jobs overseas in the future as employers overseas think that we are uncivilized.

    athula Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:54 AM

RW HAS NO MORAL RIGHT TALK ON ETHICS AS HE HIM SELF VIOLATED ETHICS IN HIS PARTY.

    Sena2 Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:55 AM

Is it a shame for countrymen to register their genuine concerns and protests in circumstances when an individual with hidden motives in the UN embarks on an uncalled for course of action clearly prejudicial to the sovereign interests of the country?

    Jagath Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:11 AM

YES we fully agree. This is not the way to confront UN on this issue.

    J Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:14 AM

No, This protest forget about all other burning problem such as cost of living, Dengu Fever etc

    Anonymous Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:17 AM

Very true Mr. Wickremasinghe. If you were in power nothing like this would have happened. You are a statesman. Its just that the sri lankans don't appreciate people of your calibre.

    Dhamsen Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:19 AM

If a peaceful protest is shameful,What would be the action by the Secretary of UN undermining sovereignty of SL

    madu Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:26 AM

You're missing the point. RW was stating the obvious. Dont kill the messenger

    Wara Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:28 AM

You are a one person who is responsible for this chaotic situation.

    Sinala-machan Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:29 AM

Today I am proud we stand to even super powers. No one can touch us. Ranil you old man, go and retire.

    hb Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:31 AM

yes, if you were in power the UN panel would have got a red carpet welcome!!!

    Musthafa Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:33 AM

Hey Mr. Ranil use this opportunity to change the goverment. U may be the MR

    karnan Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:47 AM

    jay Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:50 AM
