Now many patriots will be not happy with this action. Most of the railway people who to the technical work behind the scene work very hard in the rain and in the scorching sun. They are underpaid to what they do. The majority of the railway locomotives and rolling stock are old and out of date. These guys keeps these machines on the tracks. The deserve all the credit and of course a pay rise. I am not too of the station staff.

This govt has really lost the plot. While they party hearty and serve themselves the masses are struggling to put a decent meal on the table. Is it any wonder we have some group or another on strike every week?

It's quite astonishing how the bribery plays a major role in Chinese locomotive deal which almost strips the whole railway system of Sri Lanka.
General Motors gifted a locomotive for the people of Sri Lanka when they placed an order under Colombo Plan in 1950's. This will never happen in greedy Chinese companies and their Locos couldn't even finish maiden voyage from Kandy-Badulla route because of technical malfunctioning.
CGR is the backbone of transport people and goods in Sri Lanka and the wellbeing of Department workers especially, driver's needs are to be looked after. A big salute to their dedication.
CGR Bosses and the Government- Immediately fulfil their demand!!!!!

    Ajith Tuesday, 04 December 2012 03:12 AM

Does the CGR provides a proper service to the people when compared with the other nations????????
We are still old fashion...don't we???????
If we had a proper railway system there would have been hardly any traffic on roads...
