The government is expected to receive in the next few days an extensive report of a possible pro-Tamil Tiger build up in Venezuela after reports to such an effect was received by the Sri Lankan Envoy in Havana, Foreign Ministry sources told Daily Mirror online.

The envoy, Tamara Kuliyanayagam who has rushed to neighbouring Venezuela is currently discussing the matter with the Venezuelan government officials and will report back to the Sri Lankan government.

It is believed that the latest development in Venezuela comes following the creation of a Transnational Government of Tamil Eelaam (TGTE) in several European countries and elsewhere.

The controversial TGTE held its inaugural sessions in the city of Philadelphia from May 17-19 in the US, where the LTTE is listed as a terrorist outfit.

The meeting comes in the wake of the Sri Lankan government urging foreign governments not to give credence to moves by the LTTE to create a government in exile in support of an Eelam state.

The Sri Lankan government last week also said that it has sought talks with the Tamil Diaspora as well as the International media in order to change their mindset about the LTTE and post war Sri Lanka.

The government said that in order to give the proper picture the Sri Lankan government is keen to have talks with representatives of the Tamil Diaspora as well as international news agencies and media organizations. (Daily Mirror online)

If the government negotiated a settlement with the most moderate party, there is no guarantee that others would accept it.

Actually, if the government wants a lasting settlement it has to negotiate with hardest of the hardliners. Because everyone else’s demands would be inclusive in that set.

Now, what do the hardliners want? They want nothing but Eelam. Are we ready to give in? No.

Why are we only talking about the problems in the North. What about South? SL is one country. SL has just finished a brutal war. The remnants of the LTTE must be rid of. At least the sL govt had the courage to finish the war without listening to all these foreign advisors. Remember how many halpers did we have in Solheim, Milliband, Kouchner et al. Do think positively. There are shortcomings as we can see. I am positive that the SL Govt will be able to overcome them.

As long as it is not in SL soil, no problem. You too can join with TGTE at anywhere.

what is your "true and just cause", building EElam here for you all? thats what you want. never. can you say that you dont want a eelam but fair and justice for tamil within a unitary sri lanka? if it is so we are progressing for that slowly. delay is because you poeple cannot be trust. you always try to take SL for a ride. not again. if MR is not there, remember Sajith premadasa is there to do that. not all the polititons are fools. there are country loving people as well. thats why you and west is feared most. there be more than enough "Lee kwan Yu" in sri lanka.

The Analyst comment is correct. No point in blaming to LTTE/TGTE/UNP/JVP/Western Countries/Ranil/SF.
U can analyse cause or the reason why Floods due to Rain?
That is due to Un-Controlled housing constructions on Paddy Fields ,which was created by nature/God to store water due to heavy rains. So you blame Rain/Flood/Houses on paddy fields...?God has given a example to u to think.Do not be an extremist and try to understand Problems in NORTH of Srilanka.

Analyst, a very long way to go!! First of all, the minds of mankind living here should be purified! (not all but many)

    Wednesday, 19 May 2010 06:40 AM

This is another clear proof to those who have ears that can hear & heads that can comprehend that USA is the biggest terrorist state in the world & worst threat for world peace.
by allowing tiger terrorists new face the so called 'TGTE' to use its soil to promote separatism & indirect terrorism against friendly helpless countries like ours.

    Wednesday, 19 May 2010 06:21 AM

SL govt and the majority community need to realise a true and just cause cannot be suppressed by military means. Root cause need to be addressed genuinly rather than pretending that everything is okay now!

    Wednesday, 19 May 2010 06:13 AM

I believe that this could be countered easily.Anyhow friendliness of Venezuel's president, Hugo Chavez is on test.

    Wednesday, 19 May 2010 05:56 AM

    Well said

    Wednesday, 19 May 2010 05:49 AM

All TGTE can do is destabilize the economy, stop foreign aid, but very unlikely terrorism again in sri lanka. We will not be able to concur this at any cost due to poor foreign policy and weak economy planning!
