The tsunami warning post located in Mundalama Udappuwa activated suddenly this morning triggering panic among the people in the area.

Tsunami warnings have been issued twice from this post since 10.21 this morning.

When inquired about the incident, Puttalam Disaster Management Centre Head Colonel Ranaweera said it was not a tsunami warning and it had happened due to a technical fault of the post.

The police and the Navy have taken steps to inform the people about the incident.(Jude Samantha)

Well if people wana act like village folks in the face technology then they are just clearly stupid. you cannot expect a device to function accurately 100%. there can be malfunctions that is why maintanance is done regularly not sure if that happens in SL. anyways it is up to the officials to repair the thing and try to assure that it would work as intended.

Typical Sri Lanka. These are installed by foreign companies and handed over to Sri Lanka. These are not maintained. See the state of SLTB buses, the railways, CEB's power station etc. It is the same sad story.

Tomorrow by accidentally if Mr.T.Sunami arrives at Lanka coastal, will the Head of Puttalam Disaster Management reverse his decision? Was it a technical problem or an actual warning?
