The United Nations said that its Expert Panel on Sri Lanka would not meet Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is in US for a private visit, Inner City Press reports.

Responding to a question, UN Secretary General’s Spokesperson Martin Nesirky said “On your question on Sri Lanka at the briefing today: We understand the Sri Lankan President has no business scheduled at the UN. He is not set to meet any of the Panel members, nor anyone else from the Secretariat.”

Sri Lanka’s Presidential Secretariat said that President Rajapaksa left the country early Wednesday morning to the United States on a private visit.

It is not double game, only the inability of your leaders to challenge MR, whether you are LTTE, JVP or UNP. All are in the same boat.

MR is in the US in the wrong time as President Hu Jintao is presently on a State Visit to US. All attention of the White House to the Media will be given to President Hu unless MR’s wants to prove that he can visit even US like he did in UK. UN or the AI cannot charge MR as he has two triumphs – President Hu, Sri Lanka’s ally is currently on a State tour and it will not look good to the US to arrest one of the Presidents who is an ally of China and number two is; Catherine Bragg who is currently in Sri Lanka. If something goes wrong in the US our MODAWANSA will arrest Catherine Bragg and will charge her on no grounds like what the GOSL is doing to SF. So, MR can safely return touring US.

    lamaya Friday, 21 January 2011 04:03 AM

    priyanka Friday, 21 January 2011 03:18 AM

May be Ban Ki Moon should take LLRC instead of being a head of UN so he can easily please Sri Lankan president. Door is open for Ban Ki Moon for any position in Sri Lanka.
