The plant will keep breaking down as all these breakdowns are orchestrated by the responsible people who is PAID by the 3rd party electrical providers. Until the people (not the government/ministers as they are also part of this) organize and get rid of these people we will always be paying Highest rates for obtaining power from the 3rd party companies. these companies will NEVER allow to have ANY form of alternative power to thermal power. NO COAL/WIND/SOLAR etc. they pay off every official to keep these plants not operational.

Poor quality staff, ill trained, corruption,Bad management, High salaries and perks, over staffing etc.... and the poor and innocent public has to bear the brunt on Electricity increase. If it was another country Top senior staff and the Minister would have resigned. The policy should be DO IT PROPERLY OR GET LOST!

What is the use of the power plant if it can not serve the desired purpose?
ThejaB Saturday, 20 April 2013 04:17 AM
So the engineers are admitting themselves are responsible for the problems.
Sonali De Silva Saturday, 20 April 2013 04:17 AM
Here's another one for the Guinness records. This is the result of bribery and corruption when granting the tender. Google China's power plants and find me one that has breakdowns like ours. Don't blame the Chinese because they build with the money you give.
Manel Saturday, 20 April 2013 04:24 AM
Whether it is improper maintenance or installation of sub-standard machinery, poor people of the country have to bear the brunt and pay higher tariff.

Are you sure? Google is heavily censored in China, That sort of information can never be found on Google. May be you should try Baidu or Sina weibo ? absence of evidence is not evidence of absence
unchikun Saturday, 20 April 2013 05:49 AM
This plant does not seem to meet the standards. The engineers are covering it up. In Sri Lanka there is no accountability and this the root cause of the problems.
