Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan said that there is no rift within the TNA as portrayed by the media. “ There is no rift within the TNA as certain media are trying to point out” he said.

When the Daily Mirror online queried Sampanthan about the remarks made by TNA spokesman Suresh Premachandran who was reported to have said that certain remarks made by Sambanthan at the ITAK conference were controversial, Sambanthan said that the TNA is a democratic party. “We are a democratic party and I respect the views expressed by members of our party and won’t say anything against it, but there is certainly no rift within the party” he said.( By Hafeel Farisz)

And what invalidates the 'rule of law' is the PTA used crudely by petty dictators and their sycophants to commit murder, mass murder, cruelty supreme, rape, plunder and all sorts of wanton criminality against fellow citizens based on tribal instincts. It is well past time to erase this shameful PTA from the country's legislation and return the 'rights'-civil, political, social, economic and security to life to ALL its citizens through a modern constitution.

The statements made by your spokesman generates the impression that there is a rift inside the party. Then how could you deny the media reports.

TNA is the only credible party the Tamils can rely; they r keeping to their objective of maximum devolved power with police & land powers for a combined N & East. They might change their tactics. UNO, USA & Europe r behind us. Justice will ultimately prevail.
If the President & his raceist party does not see the light of the day, there may well be an Eelam which might even federate with South India..

There is more unity in TNA now on truth than ever.

The “law of those who rule” is applied more than the “rule of law” to the people in the North and East(NE) of Sri Lanka(SL).

The rule of law anywhere, is the legal dimension of the democratic process, which seeks to ensure that government decisions are impersonal and subject to legal restraint. It also guarantees individual freedoms from arbitrary government, and entitles the individual to due process of law.

The constitution of any country is the foundation for its rule of law.

But the document called the “constitution” of SL, prepared first in 1972, did not coform to the definition of a democratic constitution in its formation. It was simply a docment for the Sinhalese to administer the island, which SL wrongly called as its “constitution”.

    Justin Friday, 01 June 2012 10:40 AM

Violating the rule of law, the government decisions are not kept impersonal but are based on ethnicity. Lack of legal restraint on Tamils is the reason for gross violation of Human rights and military repression leading to genocide.

Also, there is no guarantee of individual freedoms for the people of NE of the island, and the due process of law is postponed indefinitely for those in custody.

Sarath De Silva, the former Chief Justice of SL, made this observation lamentfully, when he visited the IDP camps in 1979.

This week, the US has asked for justice and speedy trial for LTTE suspects, but was rebuked by a cabinet minister of the GOSL.

To correct the fundamental error, the US may have to ask the International Court of Justice (ICJ), to adjudicate on the validity of the first republic “constitution” of SL of 1972.

Sambandan under treat now by diaspora due to Lion Flag incident. He will get the same treatment where as Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi getting now. They knows even elephant also falling one day. Terrorists oriented people, no future.

    Justin,
Sad to say that you are driven by some personal animosity and in the process, seems to be heavily misguided and misdirected. Current constitution of Sri Lanka was adopted in 1978 overuling 1972 constitution, with a Tamil politician becoming the first leader of opposition then.
Besides, in what ways and means had the 1972 constitution being undemocratic? It was formulated in one way that is universally accepted.

TNA is a strong united front lead by Federal party. Some of the tiny groups ware collaborating with the government. Government. wants to infiltrate and create drifts. They have done it successfully earlier to create drift and destroy TULF. Tamils will strongly staying behind Smpanthan. Government is not going to win this time.

    EnEff Saturday, 02 June 2012 02:58 AM

    You are truly misguided!
You say "Lack of legal restraint on Tamils" - so, what's issue then?
"Sarath de Silva visited IDPs in 1979" - Where? Are you sure?
Does ICJ has a jurisdiction to rule on a country's constitution? Or its validity? So many heads of SL governments appointed under 1972 & 1978 constitutions have been recognised by UN, Commenwealth, even ICJ.
Is US the global prosecutor or global attorney general? Are you expressing these views as a citizen of any other country?

Are you day dreaming? It will be like Prabakaran's dreams.

Well said Sir, we all know that TNA is not owned by a single family like present government.

    Gayan Saturday, 02 June 2012 06:51 AM

No they are owned by the Tamil Diaspora only.

    Leela Friday, 01 June 2012 02:47 PM

Let’s be honest, those Tamils that back bantuland or homeland concept in Sri Lanka want to establish Eelam here. They want to be Tamils regardless where ever they live. They may call themselves Indian Tamils, Sri Lankan Tamils or Colombo Tamils etc but that is for politicking and as a means to get to that goal.

Sambandan waved the flag but threatens to do la Libya in Ghandi style if he doesn’t get self determination. Sambandan means Eelam through ISGA. Karunanithi is at least honest to the extent to say that he dreams for Eelam.

I only disagree with him where Karunanithi wants Eelam. Like Periyar and Annadorai, the pioneers of Dravidian and Tamil separatist movement in India, he should have asked Eelam in India where Tamils had kingdoms for more than a thousand year.

    RAJU Saturday, 02 June 2012 07:18 AM

NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE, BUT ANY WAY UNITY OF THE PARTY IS THE POLITICAL STRENGTH OF THE TAMILS, PLEASE MIND YOU ALL.
