Negotiations to resolve fishermen issue on Jan. 13 and 14

In order to resolve the issue of Indian and Sri Lanka fishermen governmental level negotiations between the two countries will take place on January 13 and 14, 2012, Fisheries Minister Susantha Punchinilame told Parliament.  The Defence Authority and the External Affairs Ministry will participate in the negotiations.

Earlier during the debate in Parliament Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardana  accused Indian fishermen of encroaching Sri Lankan waters in large numbers which has as a result denied Sri Lankan fishermen their livelihood. (KB)
