British Prime Minister David Cameron has said Sri Lanka’s former cricketing star Muttiah Muralitharan was right in saying that as a proud Sri Lankan he was keen to paint a fair picture of Sri Lanka.

“What he wants, as a proud Sri Lankan is to ensure that a fair picture is painted of his country, and he is right to say that,” Mr. Cameron said when responding to a question asked by a fellow lawmaker in the British Parliament.

“First, I did not hit Muralitharan for six. Secondly, I think he was being quite gentle with me. I certainly could not read which way the ball was going to go and I was fairly lucky to hit it at all. He made a good point that a huge amount of progress has been made in terms of peace, stability and economic prosperity. His organisation is bringing together Tamils, Sinhalese and others to help forge the country together. He is doing amazing work and we should back that work. He also thought I was right to attend and to raise these issues. What he wants, as a proud Sri Lankan, is to ensure that a fair picture is painted of his country, and he is right to say that.”

No one will say nothing if there is nothing to say .
Eevery one has a right to say because is a right .
he has right to say does not mean that he is saying the right thing .

Every one has some something to say about anything so above sentence "you have no right to say anything" is poor understanding to rights .
as Tony takes his right to say somthing everyone has a right to say
    Am I right ?

The world expected you to paint a fair picture too, but you failed badly from before you ever put foot on the island. I have been to the country far more frequently than you, and have taken the effort to collect information from all sides. You sir are a hypocrite and a politician of the worst kind, pandering for votes in your own country at the expense of a nation trying to recover and heal wounds. You walked in with a knife attempting to slash up the patient before the dressings are barely off. How vulger!

I believe you are aptly named. Emphasis on the 'simple'.

    Roshan Wednesday, 20 November 2013 07:46 AM

You don't have to be an expert to share your experience you FOOL!! The so called experts can be bought for few bucks !! Ever thought of that??

    Chugum Wednesday, 20 November 2013 05:41 AM

Sorry Sir, in Sri Lanka we like to shop.

Murali is only painting, not painting real picture.

Crazy Coot Tuesday, 19 November 2013 12:19 PM

Even on the back foot he appears to have hit a four!!. Where exactly is Murali's Peace, Stability and Economic progress. Is he judging by the condition and situation of SL: cricketers?

Simple Simon Tuesday, 19 November 2013 12:15 PM

When did Murali and Botham's daughter become experts on Sri Lankan affairs? Does Murali know his namesake, the guy responsible for killing many monks and SL Policemen is a 'Great'man in SL?

Concerned Citizen Tuesday, 19 November 2013 11:59 AM

Murali told the British PM that he has been misled by some people. Also Ian Botham's daughter had told the media that she is very saddened to note that the media is not carrying the good news and actual situation in SriLanka and further mentioned that even her father Sir Ian Botham is very disappointed with the damaging stories. This goes to show, that, those individuals who cannot be influenced with funds and votes of the LTTE diaspora, have a true view of Sri Lanka, which is that the country is progressing admirably.

Murali is a legend and not the British PM David. Dear PM, learn from Murali, how to win the hearts of people in sports and politics

    PM - Tony Tuesday, 19 November 2013 08:23 AM

Pm you have no right to say anything, since Tony Blair went to Iraq with Bush saying WMD, but found nothing. Also You must be drinking Ceylon Tea.

Also you have no right to say anything since Election is next year and you no right to be PM.

    shanthapriya Tuesday, 19 November 2013 11:32 AM

poor work by a pm of a country like uk with a sri lankan bowler

    diaspora Tuesday, 19 November 2013 11:29 AM

Glad to hear Tamil diaspora is making an impact to help highlight SL human rights situation.

    mike Tuesday, 19 November 2013 11:22 AM

good one! Cameron is on da back foot since he didn't expect a Tamil to respond in that manner. this shows that except for terrorism we are one! we are srilankan do not let these British divide us again. listen to our HC in LONDON on CNN proud to be Srilankan

    Sriyani Tuesday, 19 November 2013 11:22 AM

Murali, You are a true son of mother Lanka. We are really proud of you!!!!

singing fish Tuesday, 19 November 2013 10:26 AM

All that glitters are not gold.

    ind Tuesday, 19 November 2013 09:56 AM

Exactly. Here also he has hit a "KANA" shot hoping some more votes from Tamil diaspora at the next election.

    billy Tuesday, 19 November 2013 09:55 AM

    ANTON Tuesday, 19 November 2013 09:27 AM

ENGLAND VS. SRILANKA, LIMITED BALL MATCH.

    lkboy Tuesday, 19 November 2013 08:29 AM

"I certainly could not read which way the ball was going to go and I was fairly lucky to hit it at all" - sums it up!

    Aravindan Tuesday, 19 November 2013 08:24 AM

Great of Murali but there are also a lot of other organizations very active in bringing people together to ensure proper reconciliation. Not forced upon the country from outside to fulfill with sinister agenda's
