In a Civil action the Plaintiff has to get into the box and give evidence first. Then the defendant(s) are given the opportunity to cross examine him where he van be contradicted with embarrassing questions/documents. Al though the Letters of Demand have been sent I doubt that the former president would go ahead and take the next step. The letters of demand are only for the public consumption. A good example is Mahindananda Aluthgamage who threatened to sue Ranjan Ramanayake when he got an embarrassing phone call - but never went ahead.
