You must be the only person (and those who liked your comment) getting the internet connection from a satellite, while the rest of us getting from the underground cable (SEA-ME-WE 3)

Why only tax? charges should be reduced as well, because the speed is not worth for the charges we pay. Anyway a good move for the start (we hope).

That means the bill will come down about 9%. I'm grateful even for such small mercies.

1 KBPS Monday, 10 December 2012 04:47 AM
I have a connection from the so called largest private network operator and live in their 3G cover area. (Wattala) In June I made a complaint that my standard speed is less than 5 kbps, and followed up with many more complaints.
They advertise a minimum average speed of 1 mbps.
Since then they have reduced it to average speed of 1 kbps (may be as service recovery), and also now they tell me the upgrade is due next year. If the promise is true, my waiting is for 22 days or 387 more days with 1 kbps?

How will this favorably impact on poor rural masses who can't even afford to buy a CD.
kirala Monday, 10 December 2012 08:14 AM
If your connection is "too slow", change the service provider, or change the package. From my experience, if you're willing to pay for it, local broadband services are pretty fast.

Thats nice, how will the benefit be passed on to the consumers?
galapitamada Sunday, 09 December 2012 10:31 AM
Definitely to cover something more already set. The benefit of the doubt can be passed to that.
