This is entirely the fault of the airline cabin crew. When they saw a child next to single young male , they should have moved the child to another seat next to child or a female. I remember in the old days how well Briths Airways took care of unaccompanied children. A stweardess would be responsible from the time an unaccompaied chlld was handed over to them, till they hand over the child at the end of the flight to the designated adult. I suppose all that is not done today.

This is common occurrence in the world as many perverts are there. For instance a Japanese High court Judge put his hand under a sleeping girl in train in Japan and the judge was imprisoned.

So we need to post security personnel for each minor that is travelling by air alone.

How can you be sure this was a Sri Lankan Airlines flight?
Rose Friday, 20 February 2015 09:22 AM
Srilankan has a very poor record of taking care of unaccompanied minors. Never use this airline ever if you want to be safe. Poor standards due to politiciation.

Vidanapathirana tell the former President to safe guard you. He is the only person who could help this kind of men.

They do the same in Saudi Arabia like you said. Women are NOT allowed to drive anywhere in Saudi to reduce road accidents.
AKR Thursday, 19 February 2015 02:54 PM
You mean like how they do it in Saudi Arabia. Prohibiting women from driving to reduce accidents?

Molestation of young girls and even female adults in busses is so common in Sri Lanka the other comuters just ignore the whole incident. The conductors are the worst culprits.

Problem n publc Transport in Sri Lanka, the police can easily reduce it. Plan and send WPCs 4to 6 in a bus in civil and fix those animals.

The Airlines should have known NOT to put a young child/girl next to any man. Surely there are other seats on the plane. There are perverts who take advantage of children. They should either be placed near other children and families, or next to a parent who has kids with her.

How can a 12 year old girl travel alone in a plane. First the blame should come to the airline and the culprit should be sent to the gallows.

pitta Thursday, 19 February 2015 01:29 AM
Actually it should be the other way around. Sri Lankans should be prohibited from sitting next to young girls.
gobbaya Thursday, 19 February 2015 01:11 AM
should have opened the emergency door & pushed him out during midflight via DM Android App

Leave aside the airline / parents etc. This is disgusting - the behaviour so common on Sri Lankan public transport, now on planes!
Rashmi Wednesday, 18 February 2015 05:18 PM
To say that the parents were dumb to send their child alone on the flight or that the flight was stupid to allow the girl to sit next to a man is a highly ignorant statement. Firstly, we live in a society where the parents were most likely busy working or unable to afford another plane ticket. And even if this was not the case, parents should be able to send their children unaccompanied. Secondly, allowing the girl to sit next to a man is not a stupid decision because that operates under the false assumption that all men are molesters! What you should have said is that this man is fault for being unable to control his sexual instincts and he is also guilty of paedophilia. Attitudes such as yours place blame on everyone except the man actually at fault. We shouldnt have to unreasonably alter our lifestyles simply because there are some disgusting men out there. Furthermore, the girl could have just as likely been sexually abused by a woman who the flight placed her next to.

NEW REGULATION WILL BE IMPLEMENTED SOON, YOUNG GIRLS SHOULD BE PROHIBITED SITTING BY SRILANKANS.

The Dumb parent sent a 12 year old minor unaccompanied!!!The dumb airline checked in the Young girl sit at a seat next to man!
BC Wednesday, 18 February 2015 03:54 PM
I wonder why the crew is not looking after a girl that young when she travels alone and why would the check in personnel place a male next to her and not a female? Very ignorant.
