The JVP confirmed today that they would hold a special convention in Tissamaharama, Hambantota on January 1, 2012.

According to the JVP constitution, a convention is held once in every five years but this is a special convention being called by the party’s central committee in the backdrop of a split in the party. The party is expected to get rid of its dissidents at this convention.  (Kelum Bandara)
