The younger batsmen need to "step up to the plate and deliver". The team is over reliant on Mahela, Sanga and Dilshan, who may have just a couple more years of international cricket left in them. Congrats to Dhoni and the young Indian cricketers. They have performed consistently well when it mattered.

Stupiod comments from Calistus Jayatilleke above !! Without 250 on the board,it is difficult. Again the inexperience of Mathews has shown up. He should have made certain the last over was for Malinga. Eranga's last over was erratic. He should have been advised to bowl yorkers. Instead of this Mathews looks up to the sky and pleads with his "god"in the sky!!! He did not get any help from his "god" . He should realise to keep religion out of sport and not make crosses before he starts to bowl !!!!

MSD, this is what called masterminded. He could have finished the game earlier, extraordinary people will make imprint, this is what MSD did yesterday, it'll stay in Lankan's mind.

Good one CJ, Yes before anything they need Military Leadership and strength training to build Mental, physical, psychological and patience at the wicket. Lack of communication and game plan shown when batting while trying to hit sixes and missing when once are needed. Poor power batting shown. Atleast the bowlers should contribute to bat and score when required. Give us a break.
Saman Friday, 12 July 2013 04:15 PM
Our second order batsmen and the Bowlers are still like GOATS whencome to atting. Eight wickets for 30 is unbeliveable. Our batsmen lack Leadership qualities, taking responsibility, mental preparedness, cordination and lack of game plan when it comes to batting. Bowlers should contribute more in batting. They are more into score sixes and lack GAS, POWER than running singals. Keep training hard on Batting.

Irresponsible batting by the latter, 8 wickets for 30 runs.

The usual nervous breakdown when facing the Indians. The team should be sent for a complete psychological evaluation or even better to a "Kattadiya" to perform a "thovil" ceremony to drive away the Devil.
LonwaboTsotsobe Friday, 12 July 2013 05:19 AM
Now that the bowlers are improving how about we tackle the issue of the younger batsmen? So far it's been a Mahela Sanga show Chandimal and Kusal need to live up to their promise... many fan's want the old men out but it's they who have been carrying the batting...
P.S : good to see Matthews bowling form ... also bring back Thissara Perera for the SA series.
Fayad Friday, 12 July 2013 04:50 AM
Do we see any toe searching yokers, deadly bouncers, slow balls bowled by Malinga against India ??? NO
sadarana Friday, 12 July 2013 04:23 AM
All I could say is check out these bowling figures of
Lasith Malinga - 10-1-58-1 (wide 3) and why is the selectors continuting to bowl him against India knowing very well that he CANNOT bowl well against them. With all due respect to our best bowler its not his fault but the selectors fault for picking him for India matches. As our main strike bowler if he had bowled well we could have still won the match as we know it was not a batting friendly wicket.
Malinga Friday, 12 July 2013 03:25 AM
What would have happened if i bowled well. You are lucky to have me in Sri Lankan team. I managed to give 58 to you. Next time if they drop me from the side how are you going to win?
Lanka Shantha Friday, 12 July 2013 03:05 AM
Thanks DM for the special report..
Didn't watch the match due to the high price of the electric tariff that I can get at the end of the month.
sara Friday, 12 July 2013 03:02 AM
Another international conspiracy to oppress our boys. I think eranga bowled last over poorly because he wants ipl contract. Proud lankans must demand answers from their board.
MW Friday, 12 July 2013 02:58 AM
Congratulations MSD !
sam Friday, 12 July 2013 02:48 AM
Sri Lanka deserve this. Glad they put up a good fight but batsmen should take the responsibility. Walking wickets must be drop for a while they gain their confidence back and introduce people who are performing well at the moment
Suq Madique Friday, 12 July 2013 02:38 AM
The team continues to play like amateurs while drawing professional salaries!
ANTON Friday, 12 July 2013 01:59 AM
OK OK BOYS , NOW COME HOME , WITHOUT OPENING WRONG DOORS IN THE PLAIN.
Reader Friday, 12 July 2013 01:11 AM
Now only the "ASHES" left for MSD to win.
chris perera Friday, 12 July 2013 01:10 AM
This time our bowlers did very well, our fielding needs improvement & we are mainly dependent on Mahela & Sanga. Kusal Perera will have to go back to domestic cricket to work on his batting technique. Dinesh Chandimal is fully out of form and needs to regain his form if he to be selected, Skipper will have to improve his fielding and catches win matches. Lahiru Thirimanne becoming much more dependable.
