Heroin addict robs mother’s nose ring

A heroin addict was remanded today, till November 14 when he was produced in court on charges of having robbed his 71-year-old mother’s nose-ring after attempting to strangle her.

The Kompanna Veediya Police told the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne that they believed the suspect might have committed to finding sufficient funds to support his addiction as the high demand for heroin had pushed up the price of heroine, in the past few weeks.
