Floods affect 588,014 persons

More than 588,014 persons belonging to more than 157,738 families have been affected due to floods and heavy rain in Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa Districts, while 1207 families are currently housed in 18 IDP camps, the Disaster Management Center reported.
 
4685 families have been sheltered in camps in Batticaloa, Ampara and Polonnaruwa Districts. 18 camps located in these districts are providing relief supplies to those affected by floods and rain.

More than 669 houses were fully damaged and 2631 were partially damaged due to floods.  Three deaths and seven personal injuries were also reported till yesterday.

The Situation in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura and Matara Districts has normalized according to the DMC. (Daily Mirror online)

    Let us pray for this poor people first. All these are man made too. When our MPs get free land and build big big houses with planing properly and do not care for the environment this what happens. First the poor and next will be them. God is up there Watching every thing.
