The mechanised boat fishermen began an indefinite strike since then demanding their immediate release and dropping of the cases registered against them by Sri Lankan government.

Meanwhile, Dr. M.H.Jawahirullah, Ramanathapuram MLA and pesident of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), urged the Central and state governments to take immediate steps for the safe release of fishermen. (Source: PTI)

Better to keep the culprits in custody for some more time, because at least then our own fishermen can engage in their legitimate business without interference from the rogue fishermen from the Tamil Nadu. If our fishermen were caught with drugs, would the Tamil Nadu Police just allow them to go scot-free?
