Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain T.M.Dilshan will announce his retirement from international Test cricket tomorrow, the Sri Lanka Cricket said today.

Meanwhile in an interview with ESPN Dilshan said "I have taken this decision to allow Sri Lanka Cricket to groom another youngster in my place," Dilshan, 36, said on Wednesday. "I was to announce my retirement after the Zimbabwe Test series but unfortunately the tour was postponed."

Sri Lanka was to tour Zimbabwe from October and the tour itinerary included two Tests.

His 16 Test centuries included a career-best 193 against England at Lord's in 2011 as captain.

Dilshan will continue to play in the shorter formats for his country, however. "I will discuss my future with the national selectors and if they need me I will play till the 2015 World Cup," Dilshan said.

I won't be surprised if Dilshan gets a call from the ECB to play for England who keep stealing cricketers from South Africa, West Indies, Australia, Ireland and Zimbabwe to help their team win matches.

Yeas ofcourse. This rule must be applicable for all, including for Lasith Malinga to groom youngsters as Dilshan badly needs.

NorDOG, you are out of your mind or mad, you have to learn how to respect them.

    Nishantha Thursday, 10 October 2013 06:34 AM

You are mad or an idiot... why don't you respect them? Be a Sri Lanka

If TM DIlshan didn't retire people would complain that he is hanging around for too long now that he actually DID people still complain... typical Sri Lankans.

    Lannister Thursday, 10 October 2013 05:10 AM

I remember people saying the same thing some years back - when de Silva etc were retiring.

Anything to do with the SLC's test-match timetable clashing with the IPL in 2014?

Good luck to Dilshan. My personal view is that you should play all forms or none. After all Sri Lankan test series are not more than 3 with any country.

thanks Dilshan, Though it is sad, I still believe he has something left on him for test than new players. This is the country team, not the incubator of teams so who can play should play.. my view.
