Two sisters aged four and six who have been subject to torture were found by the Galagedara police on January 4.

The mother of the children is employed abroad and the father is deceased.

The mother of the two children had handed over the custody of the children to her sister-in-law under whose care the children were tortured.

The two children have been admitted to the Kandy General Hospital. The Medical report states that the two suffer from malnutrition and injuries to the spinal chord. The sister-in-law has been taken into custody by the police. (Chaminda Jayalath)
