The Sri Lankan Military today refuted the charges raised by the Dublin tribunal on Sri Lanka saying the tribunal had not conducted a proper inquiry. The tribunal had charged that Sri Lanka was guilty of war crimes and also claimed that it had gathered evidence from some soldiers.

However Military Spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, speaking to Daily Mirror online, said that the tribunal dose not have evidence to prove that any war crimes took place in Sri Lanka.

The People’s Tribunal on Sri Lanka (PTSL), an initiative by the Ireland peace process supported by the University of Dublin and Dublin City University, claimed there was harrowing evidence, including video footage on the use of heavy artillery and phosphorous munitions during the war in Sri Lanka and of the continuous violation of human rights by military activity.

Skeptic your lack of information and flawed think makes you the idiot!!! It is called the Dublin tribunal because it is held at the Trinity College, Dublin. Secondly, it consists of not Irish people, it consists of a jury hailing from across the globe, especially the highly revered Milan based Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal:

So get facts correct and do not make all Sri Lankans look like you...We are not an unintelligent lot.

The last day are near. Every one have to answer soon

    Ranjit Edward

Your lack of intelligence is demonstrated by your answer. What I wanted to know is not the composition of this so called jury or where it sat but the legality of its appointment. In short whether it had jurisdiction.

    Go get educated.

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 08:52 AM

why are we all scared and and at the same time claiming to have done nothing wrong. Either there is something to hide or we try to convince ourselves that there was nothing wrong. Prove your innocence before scolding anybody.

I have read enough. Whenever this topic surface, from the politicians to the citizen (I am sorry it is always us the Sinhalese) abruptly jumps up blatently denying. The known fact is Soldiers are not holy when it comes to war. All kinds of violations take place. That is the reality of the war. The people who deny and defend that there was no war crimes, what proof do they have? Were they on the battlefield? If Mr. X accuses you the only way to win over Mr. X is to prove that Mr. X is wrong. Simply counter accuring Mr. X will not make you clean. Think Jaya think....

It seems most people don't know what this 'Permanent Peoples' Tribunal' is! Please refer the same on an online encyclopaedia.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 10:09 PM

It would have been much better to have caught the LTTE, alive, and to have brought them to trial, exposing them for their evil acts!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 09:11 PM

We should be proud of our forces, and of our leader, for his true 'lion' spirit, when all the world wanted us to abandon our military action, to crush the 'tigers.'

    Monday, 18 January 2010 08:54 PM

There is no doubt that those who supported this project were richly rewarded, for their 'services'! It may be quite appropriate to characterize this, an occasion where 'money spoke'!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 07:27 PM

The people who had control over this matter, have to be held accountable for their actions!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 05:28 PM

The Biggest War Crime is: forgetting the soldiers who died in the battlefield!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 05:18 PM

"...The tribunal had not conducted a proper inquiry..." - Well, did the Sri Lanka government conduct any independent inquiry? No! Did they respond to the Tribunal's invitation requesting representatives, to give evidence at its hearing? No! Instead, Sri Lanka scoffed at this Tribunal.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 04:51 PM

Of course, one was found without his brains only dressed in a blue thong near a shoreline.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 04:23 PM

Why do we waste our time to read these bunch of monkies judgement? Do not give damn all these colonial thieves!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 03:38 PM

I totally agree with Michael. Until the patriotic Sri Lankans push the oppotion into the ditch after the election, things like this will happen to Sri Lanka.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 12:51 PM

OK, First of all we will see their report on Iraq and afghan war crime by America and UK.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 03:02 PM

You dont have to see the report. If a person is guilty of wrongdoing he will be punished by GOD. that way Saddam was punnished.President of Pakistan, Zia ul haq who had no feeling for Butto died in a helicopter crash! So what proof do you want to see, Great President Premadasa who brought relief to so many poor, and slum dewellers did die tragically, WHY he had done faults as well. HE WHO LIVES BY THE SWORD WILL DIE BY THE SWORD!!!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 02:50 PM

I think their findings is genuiene and scientific. Rather than arguing, the government of Sri Lanka should face an inquiry by which government can proves its innocence if it did not commit any crimes indeed.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 02:34 PM

    100% correct

    Monday, 18 January 2010 02:33 PM

Come on guys. If the army is innocent, why not just challenge and prove it? Are we guilty of anything or scared that the truth will come out. If we can beg (and for that matter try to file a case for not granting GSP) from all these rich nations, be prepared to entertain these charges too.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 02:15 PM

If what the Tribunal says is false, our GL Pieris can file a case in the International Court & claim as damages at least a couple of BILLION DOLLARS, why not proceed????????

    Monday, 18 January 2010 02:13 PM

THE TRUTH IS COMING OUT DAY BY DAY

    MICHAEL Monday, 18 January 2010 01:55 PM

As long as traitors like Mangala Samaraweera are there always eager to utter rubbish with their worn out tongues, things like there clumsy tribunals will attract social deviatives. It is him who last week screamed out the government has mislead the UN by saying that they will not use heavy weapons during the last stages of the war, thereby giving credence to accusations such as these. When are we going to show te way out to these traitors who come to power through our votes?

    Monday, 18 January 2010 01:50 PM

Well blame the messenger when the message is not good.

    Monday, 18 January 2010 01:46 PM

These ppl did not know, killing a tamil in Srilanka is not a crime for last 30 yrs. so what diffrence the court will make?

    MICHAEL Monday, 18 January 2010 01:43 PM

What mandate do these people have? Where is the principle of fair hearing to all parties concerned? Do they still think we're their colonies for them to bully? Do they think that we conduct our affairs like they did in their former colonies, using brutality to suppress the rights of people they treated as slaves? What about the crimes against humanity done by the allied forces, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Diego Garcia and so on? Judge yourselves first, you self proclaimed righteous. U're silent when the US, as recently as last week bombed Pakistani villages with their drones. You all are a bunch of clowns, that's all we could say!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 01:38 PM

Well done Sarath Fonseka!!!! you are the man!! you doing what ltte's unfinished business....long live the liberation!!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 01:27 PM

Haven't these ideots gathered any evidance against the LTTE terorists? any judgement against LTTE?

    Monday, 18 January 2010 01:10 PM

Who gave those Irish Lunatics the authority to appoint tribunals that can inquire into international affairs? This is a case of "Ugath Pisso".

    Monday, 18 January 2010 12:53 PM

How Srilankan soldiers can give evidence to Dublin tribunal without prior permission of the military command...?
