Allergic condition spreads to Colombo

At least 86 students in Minuwangoda, Dematagoda, Ampara and Balangoda have been admitted to hospitals today, as a result of an alleged allergic reaction, hospital sources said.

Accordingly, seven students of Anuruddha Girls School in Dematagoda have been admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital in Borella.

About 30 students of Polwatta Rathanasara School were admitted to the Minuwangoda hospital and 25 students of Gamini Maha Vidyalaya were admitted to the Ampara hospital while 24 students of Pinnawala Udagama Maha Vidyalaya were admitted to the Balangoda hospital.

Let's be serious - this is our children. We need to look at the common things among all schools since it is not based on a specific location. COULD THIS BE THE TEXT BOOKS? What if these were printed with low quality ink. May be the experts should look in to. One may then ask why now if the books were used for 11 months already? Authorities must check without giving cheap excuses...

There should be serious study made of the pattern of this allergies. If local doctors are not able to make headway in this matter, then it should be referred to the WHO for international inputs.

This news spread of allergy among students looks like a 'ploy' to divert the attention of the public from something "I do not know for sure". The public shuld be suspecious that "something" might be brewing in the government kitchen that the govt. do not want the public to know.
