Youth arrested for posting offensive FB comments

A 22-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly posting Facebook comments disparaging the Pitigala Police in particular and the Sri Lanka Police in general.

Police said the suspect, Shammi Dushan Chathuranga had posted these offensive comments using a fake account.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday at Porawagama in Naranowita on charges of humiliating the police and tarnishing its image.

He was to be produced in the Pitigala Magistrate’s Court today. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
