The Court of Appeal today fixed to be mentioned on May 30, the Writ petition filed by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) seeking a court order to arrest and institute legal proceedings against Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam alias Kumaran Pathmanathan (KP).
The writ petition filed by JVP parliamentarian Vijitha Herath was taken for hearing by Justice P. Padman Surasena. The Court directed the petitioner to decide whether he wished to continue the proceedings or terminate it.
The Attorney General on February 3 furnished to the Court the progress report on the investigation into KP's alleged involvement in the LTTE activities.
Upul Kumarapperuma with Sunil Watagala, Kaushalya Perera, Thanuka Nandasiri, Jayantha Dehiattage and Heshani Jayasuriya appeared for the petitioner. (S.S. Selvanayagam)
