An elderly woman was accidentally jabbed with two doses of the Moderna vaccine today when she went for her inoculation at a center in Kandy.

After receiving the second injection, just moments apart from her first dose, she felt faintish and developed other complications.

She was vaccinated at the Ogastawatta vaccination center in Kandy where she was immediately provided preliminary treatment after which she was admitted to the Peradeniya teaching hospital.

She had told the doctors that she had been vaccinated twice at the vaccination center.

Her husband has lodged a complaint with the Peradeniya Police and the health authorities.

Central Province Director of Health Services, Nihal Weerasuriya said the incident had been reported to him and a formal investigation would be held.

This possibly may be the first incident of this kind to be reported in the world. (Shane Seneviratne)

Why did you go back to get the second jab without waiting 20 minutes and then going home? Is it uneducated ness or lack of commonsense that 2 jabs needs a gap!

Am gonna apply my 50% fault Theory!! Well, 50% her fault, other 50% also her fault !!

If she was given One why she allowed the second!?? She's ignorant!! Everyone responsible for their own health !! Period,!!

Are you retarded? This is an elderly woman, she can easily have dementia. Old people need to be guided more. This is not her fault! You’re the ignorant one.

This is not her fault, this fault is totally with the vaccination centre for not giving proper instructions for people who come for vaccination.

The first jab could have impacted her senses, did not have sufficient time to regain her senses when she was called to get her vaccine the second time. Medical staff may not memorize faces since all are wearing masks.
