Podujana Mudrana Sevaka Sangamaya (PMSS) of the Government Printing Department today said that they would resort to trade union action if their allowances and facilities were curtailed.
PMSS President Nihal Chandrasiri told the media that there were no issues with printing the ballot papers and that the Chief Printing Officer had imported the required paper.
“All we need is permission from the Elections Commission (EC),” Chandrasiri said.
Meanwhile, Government Printers' Union President Nishantha Mendis said that they had not engaged in any trade union action in the wake of an election.
"The previous Governments and relevant institutions provided all the facilities, including overtime and relevant allowances for those who worked. But this time the incumbent Government is unable to provide those facilities, and the employees have come to a situation where they are unable to have a cup of tea.
“In such a situation, we are unable to make employees work longer hours," Mendis said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Don't you know anything else than protest and strikes. You public service people only talk about your rights. Do you do your duty efficient. But everyone talks about developing the country
Stiking is only option for groups to fight payer unfairnesses Tuesday, 07 February 2023 08:49 PM
In no country that is democratic is their unwavering loyal service when the monthly pay is cut. Loyalty is the better money and good work conditions provider, and if that is not there, then time to strike.
