While claiming that the government will not hesitate to impose further restrictions during the upcoming festive season if the prevailing Covid-19 situation worsens, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said yesterday however that they do not expect to impose further curfew or isolation at this stage.
Addressing the media in Jaffna, the Commander said that experts are evaluating the current Covid-19 situation daily and that a suitable decision would be taken with regard to curfew or isolation in order to safeguard the public if required.
"We do not expect to impose further curfew or isolation procedures at this stage especially during the festive season and we hope the public will behave in a more responsible manner," he said.
During his visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, the Commander commended the commitment of the troops and their roles in the fight against the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic and attempts being made to safeguard the citizens in the Jaffna peninsula. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Measures to prevent travel beyond one's area may reduce the pandemic. Good example was in Melbourne where people were not allowed social travel beyond 5 Kms. SL had curfew for New Year, Vesak and Katine when numbers of sick was much less.
