Wearing a mask gives similar protection like the vaccination and it helps keep the coronavirus at bay, Health officials pointed out.

Consultant Family Physician Dr. Malkanthi Galhena, who is the President of the Association of Specialist Family Physicians, said people seemed to have forgotten the existing health rules when they roam outside.

“Nowadays, people are seen going on trips paying scant respect to the prevalent health rules by which they invite another COVID wave,” she stated.

Hence, Dr. Galhena reiterated the significance of sticking to all basic health practices especially when venturing outside and urged people not to touch the face unnecessarily.

She also requested people to minimise outings and avoid unnecessary movement until the country returns to normalcy. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Totally false statement. Wearing a mask reduces the spread of infection from the mask wearer. It does not protect the mask wearer from infection.
