The UNP working committee meeting ended today without a decision on the symbol to be used by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to contest the upcoming general election but unanimously approved the alliance constitution subject to some amendments.
"The UNP working approved the constitution of the new alliance led by Sajith Premadasa was unanimously approved by the UNP working committee. However the party seniors will meet on Sunday evening to decide on the symbol," UNP Senior Vice President and MP Lakshman Kiriella said.
He said UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will participate at the launch of the SJB on Monday March 2, 2020.
SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maduma Bandara also confirmed that the alliance constitution was approved by the working committee subject to minor amendments.
