Two MPs were stuck inside an elevator at the Parliamentary complex during the power cut today.
The two MPs Thushara Indunil Amarasena and Lalith Ellawala were stuck for 15 minutes when the elevator cabin came to a halt as a result of the power failure.
Parliament sources said the two MPs made use of the emergency intercom phone fixed in the elevator cabin to inform the relevant authorities. Some of the workers in the House rushed in and helped the MPs out.
This was the second time the elevators in Parliament came to a halt, as a similar incident occurred in 2017 when a few MPs from the then opposition got stuck in a elevator.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
