They said there could be showers in Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and Polonnaruwa district during the evening or in the night. Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely in Eastern and Uva provinces.
Therefore, the public are requested to take adequate precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from harm caused by sudden gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankesanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times.
