Three suspects were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) with counterfeit currency notes of Rs. 5,000 at Galwana in Mulleriyawa.
Police said the suspects were travelling in a car at the time of their arrest.
The STF recovered 128 counterfeit cash bundles in two bags in the car.
Police said the suspects had printed only one side of a Rs. 5000 / - note and two such notes were placed on either side of each bundle.
It was reported that the suspects wished to appear that they were in possession of Rs. 1,000 million in cash.
The arrested suspects, aged between 34 and 42 were identified as residents of Ja-Ela, Angoda and Mulleriyawa.
They were handed over to the Mulleriyawa Police to be produced in the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya
